Parking Meter Bats
A city block encircled with bats

Every parking meter encircling a block has a bat attached to it. A mallet or drumstick is attached to some. Bats are tuned so that rhythms tapped will harmonize. So it's a huge xylophone.
One word might be printed on each bat so that walking the block becomes a verbal experience as well.
This might take a hundred bats. Each would be a different color creating a progression when looking down the length of the block.
